Russian striker and captain of the Washington Capitals National Hockey League (NHL) club, Alexander Ovechkin, was punished for the incident in the regular season match against the Boston Bruins. According to the press service of the NHL player safety department, the Russian was fined $ 5,000.

All money from this penalty will go to the emergency fund for players. The sanctions against Ovechkin came after he hit the Bears striker Trent Frederick in the groin during a match with Boston.
